Based on the true story of a young Iowa housewife in the 1970’s, Bring Him Home follows a reckless and rebellious teen girl who marries a charming small-time con while he is still in prison. Undeterred, she enters marriage and motherhood hopeful of living happily ever after. Betrayed and perpetually abandoned over the next decade, she is challenged to trust the Lord to control the burning rage in her heart before it destroys her.
For Connie, it was surviving through her husband abandoning her family over 30 times for months and months at a time over the course of 12 years, including multiple prison sentences.
Connie’s testimony was the most powerful we’ve ever read. Her writings have been spread around the world and have reached the hearts of audiences through The Above Rubies Magazine. Marriages have already been saved and some have even become pastors themselves because of the direct influence of Connie in their lives.
The impact is real, and it’s time to share this incredible story on film. We’ve been in development for over two years interviewing those involved in this incredible true story of God’s hand at work. We’ve begun writing the script, and plan to finish in 2017. Our mission field are the millions of theaters, televisions, tablets and devices, used daily by people all over the world that are hungry for hope. The hope that only the gospel can give.
In 1970’s Iowa, young and reckless Connie falls for Jim, a handsome and charming con out on parole. Thinking she’s too good for him, Jim turns himself in. When Connie breaks the news that she’s pregnant yet decides not to marry Jim, he executes a daring prison escape to prove his love, only to get captured and land in solitary confinement. Impressed by his passionate pursuit of her, Connie agrees to Jim’s marriage proposal and they are ceremoniously wed inside the prison.
Months later, their first child is born and Connie experiences a radical rebirth and gives her life to Christ. Jim comes home two years later, but soon returns to his old ways and leaves his young family without notice. Betrayed and abandoned with no explanation, Connie must nurture and mature her faith to counter the rage in her heart before it destroys her – while waiting on God to bring her husband home.
BRING HIM HOME is the powerful true testimony of a faithful wife who ran her house for over a decade as if her husband was home, fighting to love unconditionally as she waited to receive her miracle.
